How to Connect Your iPhone to the 2017 Honda Accord

March 30th, 2017 by

Are you confused about how to connect technology from different gadgets via Bluetooth? You’re not alone! Now that so many vehicles and other everyday possessions have computers with their own coding, each connection system has its own quirks. Fortunately, Honda’s recent models have the most advanced and user-friendly HondaLink infotainment system with Apple Carplay. Let’s take a look at how you can connect your iPhone to your 2017 Accord.

The Possibilities

If you’re an iPhone user, you haven’t seen the full potential of the Accord’s HondaLink system until you pair your device with it. This will give you far easier access to your contacts, navigation apps, favorite music, and plenty more. You’ll be able to access it through your infotainment controls or your phone, whichever you prefer. All it takes is three steps, as seen below.

Step One

You’ll first need to make sure your iPhone is delivering and accepting Bluetooth signals, or the following steps will not work. To begin, open the Settings app on your iPhone. The icon should look like one or multiple gears. Once inside settings, choose the Bluetooth tab. Beyond that, you should see a toggle switch. Make sure the switch is green, which means your iPhone’s Bluetooth is activated.

Step Two

Once you’re sure your iPhone’s Bluetooth is active, you should see the HondaLink system as one of the possible connections you can make. It might be the only one, or you might see multiple devices. Select that system when you see it, and if you don’t, press the phone button on your 2017 Accord’s interface. Once you’ve done this, watch your HondaLink infotainment screen, and follow the prompts from there.

Step Three

If you’ve chosen to connect to your Accord’s system through your iPhone’s Bluetooth tab, this will cause your HondaLink system to search phone signals. It should detect yours quickly. On your HondaLink screen, you’ll be prompted to create a password. Follow the traditional rules of passwords, and come up with something difficult for others to guess, but easy for you to remember. You’ll need to enter this password again in certain instances, such as reconnecting the phone.

All Finished

Once you’ve entered the pass code, you’re all set. The connection is established, and you will only have to re-enter the code should you ever get disconnected, assuming you still keep Bluetooth active on your iPhone. If you’ve had to go through this kind of process with other infotainment systems, you might notice that HondaLink cuts out a few steps to make it faster and simpler. Once you’ve gotten used to these steps, you’ll be able to connect an iPhone to your Accord in seconds.

The new generation of the Honda Accord includes several improvements over past models, and adding Apple Carplay was one of the smartest. If you’d like to know more about how the 2017 Accord stands out compared to the past year’s model or other sedans, contact us today.
