Rocky Mount, North Carolina, is a beautiful place any time of year, but in the fall, it comes alive with color. For those who enjoy spending time outside, there are many places you can go to see the fall foliage in and around the Rocky Mount area. Here are some of the places that are beautiful in autumn.

1. Lake Wilson
Lake Wilson is a small lake in the Rocky Mount area surrounded by trees. In the fall, it is very peaceful and beautiful, whether you take a kayak out on the lake or walk around it on the wooded path. You can also just sit and watch the boats out on the water while enjoying the fresh air. There is a small playground for the kids, and the park is dog-friendly.

2. Battle Park
Battle Park encompasses over 56 acres of land and includes a small pond and a boat landing. This park is where Rocky Mount got its name and is the site of the original village. There are scenic overlooks at the park where you can take in the beautiful views as the leaves start to change color, or take a walk along the Tar River. If you want some extra beautiful views, take a boat or kayak out on the pond and get 360-degree views of the area.

3. The Tar River Trail
The Tar River Trail is a greenway that wanders along the Tar River with scenic views and historical landmarks to see along the way. This trail connects three different city parks, so you can stop and rest along the way and enjoy the scenery or have a picnic lunch.

4. Rocky Mount City Lake and Park
City Lake and the surrounding park sits off Sunset Avenue in Rocky Mount. This place is a wonderful park to visit in the fall, with tall hardwood trees that turn colors to contrast against the green pine trees. There is a gazebo where you can sit and relax while enjoying the views, or walk out on the pier over the water to see the waterfowl. You can even drop a line to catch some fish or let the kids drive their radio-controlled boats out on the water.

5. Martin Luther King Jr. Park
This 28-acre park has nice walking paths for visitors to enjoy any time of year, but they are beautiful in the fall. It is also home to the Martin Luther King Memorial, and there are lots of open spaces for the kids to play. Two picnic shelters offer shade and tables if you want to sit and have lunch while enjoying the views, and there are also benches along the walking paths if you need to take a break.

These are some of the places in the Rocky Mount area that are worth a visit in the autumn. When the leaves start to turn and the air starts to feel a little crisp, it makes any visit to the park even better.
