5 Surprising Celebrities Who Drive Hondas
Celebrities possess vast sums of money, innumerable connections in the entertainment and business worlds, and international prestige. They can choose to drive just about anything (provided they haven’t lost their driver’s licenses in well-publicized DUI incidents). It speaks volumes that many of Hollywood’s top names have chosen vehicles from the Honda family. Check out this short list of the stars in our cars.
Jamie Lee Curtis: Honda FCX Clarity
From her debut role in John Carpenter’s legendary horror film “Halloween,” Jamie Lee Curtis has risen from “scream queen” to a Golden Globe-winning actress and successful novelist. She’s been known to tool around town dodging knife-wielding baddies in her FCX. It’s perhaps no surprise that this progressive philanthropist and contributor to human rights would choose to drive a zero-emission electric car powered by clean-burning hydrogen. With the Clarity’s top speed of about 100 miles per hour, not even Michael Myers can catch up with her.
Dave Matthews: Honda Insight
Another celeb who chose to go green with Honda is musician Dave Matthews. He’s a member of the Green Music Group, a coalition of musicians and fans working towards environmental change. The group even gave a free Honda Insight to a lucky member during a 2010 promotional event. Though it wasn’t Dave’s actual car, we’re sure he approved.
Charlie Sheen: Acura NSX
“Eccentric” is a conservative choice when picking a word to describe the iconic Charlie Sheen, who once spent almost $800,000 on cars in a single month. Among his automotive choices have been a restored ’66 Mustang, a Mercedes Benz S600 that was later stolen from his garage and crashed down a cliff, and a custom bulletproof 2009 Maybach Landaulet 62S. Sheen also boasts the NSX among his many rides, and you may have caught a glimpse of him flying down Pacific Coast Highway near his Malibu home. Perhaps someday he’ll have his NSX converted to run on tiger blood.
Tony Hawk: Honda Civic
The world-famous skateboarder fondly remembers his first car, a 1977 Civic he purchased from his parents. It was in this Civic he learned how to drive by honing his skills in a Home Depot parking lot near his Del Mar childhood home, his father in the shotgun seat cheering him on. Though Hawk had turned pro at 14 and was already making tons of money, he wisely chose another Civic (this one a 1984 model) for his second car. Hawk fondly remembers camping out in his Civic overnight for skateboarding events around Cali. Considering he had enough money to buy his first house at the age of 17, his choosing the Civic was high praise indeed.
Mark Zuckerberg: Honda Fit
The world-famous CEO of Facebook could afford to buy not just any car, but any car company. One of his rides is the zippy and gas-sipping Honda Fit. Zuckerberg is one of the millions upon millions of drivers who have chosen to “like” the Honda Fit by taking one home. Were this a decade ago, we’re sure the Fit would have made his Top 8.
Honda cars have a well-deserved reputation for being solid, reliable investments for everyday people, yet a surprising number of the rich and famous have joined the ranks of happy Honda owners. Just like Charlie Sheen, you too can make the “WINNING!” Honda choice.
